The ABC consists of four distinct phases: Activation, Hope, Abandonment, and Resignation. We experience a boundary breach, hope for change through subtle hints or gestures, eventually abandon our needs to avoid conflict or criticism, and finally resign ourselves to the situation. Breaking this cycle demands intentional pattern interruption—whether through honest self-assessment, seeking support from friends or mentors, or acquiring new communication skills. By fostering self-love and nurturing our needs, we can empower ourselves to establish healthy boundaries and embrace a reality that aligns with our values.
